The Carabao Cup kicks off this week and Dale travel to Sky Bet League Two side Grimsby Town on Tuesday evening.
The Mariners recovered from an opening day loss at home to Forest Green Rovers by beating Macclesfield Town 2-0 away from home at the weekend.
Dale reached the second round of the competition last season, beating Mansfield Town before exiting at then Premier League side Stoke City.
Grimsby lost 1-0 to Derby County at home in the first round last season.

There is no extra-time in this year's competition. If the game is not decided after 90 minutes, it will go straight to penalties. This season, there is a return to the traditional approach of ‘ABAB’ format for taking penalties.
