Stoke City v Rochdale: Carabao Cup Round Two, Wednesday 23rd August 2017 – Kick-Off 8pm
Rochdale are back on the road on Wednesday night with a trip to Stoke City’s bet365 Stadium.
Dale booked their place in the second round of the Carabao Cup after seeing off Mansfield Town in the last round, while the Potters enter the competition at this stage.
Stoke City clinched their first three points of the season on Saturday, beating Arsenal 1-0 at home thanks to a debut goal from Jese Rodriguez, who’d signed from Paris St-Germain a few days earlier.
The Potters say they’re looking to take the competition very seriously and will field a strong side for the tie. Xherdan Shaqiri has been ruled out with a slight strain, however.
RULE CHANGES
Should the game go to extra-time and then penalties, fans could see two new rules in operation.
If extra-time is needed, then both managers will have the option of making a fourth substitution.
Meanwhile, if the match can’t be settled in extra-time and it goes to penalties, then the new ABBA system will be used.
