We Need Consistency - Ebanks-Landell

14 March 2024

Ethan Ebanks-Landell says Tuesday’s three points were massive and that Dale can build on them.

The 2-1 win at home to Woking helped Dale back into the top half of the league table, as we now enter into the final eight matches of the season.

The skipper held his hands to a mistake which saw Dale go behind but put in an excellent defensive display after that to help turn the game on its head.

“It’s massive. We’ve not been in the greatest form of late and those three points were definitely needed,” said Ebanks-Landell.

“The boys did well to dig me out of it. It was another mistake which isn’t good – we’ve got a habit of going behind at the minute. We’re still scoring goals but the habit of giving ourselves a mountain to climb needs to stop.

“The goals we scored were well worked, but the goals we’re conceding aren’t as hard to come by [for the opposition], so we need to change that.

“We know what they’re like [Woking], it was like that when we played them away. We knew it was going to be a tough game and they would make it a fight.

“We probably didn’t do our best to play our style of football to nullify them, but it can be hard at times. We stood up to the challenge and managed to get the three points.”

Dale travel to Eastleigh on Saturday and our number six knows the importance of consistency heading into the final stages of the season.

“We try and preach consistency with what we do in training, what we do in meetings, and try to follow it through on the pitch. With a good win, even though it wasn’t the best performance, we’ll need that consistency to go again on Saturday which is going to be another tough game.”
