Preview | Aldershot Town (A)

26 January 2024

Aldershot Town vs Rochdale AFC | Vanarama National League, Saturday 27th January, The EBB Stadium, 3pm Kick-Off

Dale will be looking to pick up from where they left off three weeks ago, as we face a trip south to take on Aldershot Town.

A 2-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers in our previous outing saw Jimmy McNulty's men move into the National League playoff spots, where we remain despite the lack of games.

Read all of the pre-match build-up ahead of what is only our third game of 2024.

ADMISSION DETAILS

Dale fans can purchase tickets online on the day, but there is a £2 increase compared to the standard prices.

Please note that away tickets are not available on the turnstile. They can only be bought online on the day of the game.

PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW

Jimmy Koehane spoke to the club's website, as he nears 200 appearances for Dale, a milestone he could reach on Saturday.

THE OPPOSITION

Tommy Widdrington’s side are two places below Dale in the table, sitting in ninth place, but do share the same amount of points [41].

Aldershot have played five games so far in 2024, winning, losing and drawing once in the Vanarama National League, with a defeat to West Bromwich Albion in the third round of Emirates FA Cup and a 6-1 loss to Bishop’s Stortford in the fourth round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

Their most recent game came on Tuesday night, when they drew 1-1 with second-placed Bromley.

Their top scorer is Josh Stokes with 16 goals in 29 games. He joined Bristol City on a permanent deal this week, being loaned back to the Shots for the remainder of the season.

GROUND GUIDE

Details on how to get to The EBB Stadium can be found on Aldershot Town’s website.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The sides have met 48 times before. 14 of those have ended in draws, and both Dale and Aldershot have won 17 games each.

Kairo Mitchell scored a 79th-minute winner in the meeting at the Crown Oil Arena earlier in the season, after Jimmy Keohane scored to cancel out Jack Barham’s opener for The Shots.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Aji Ajibola will be the referee for Saturday’s game. He’s already refereed in two of Dale’s games this season. He was the man in the middle for Dale's FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie away at Hereford, as well as officiating in Dale’s 2-2 draw with FC Halifax Town just before Christmas.

Steven Scott and Thomas Cooke are the assistant referees, with Charles Martland as the fourth official.
