Dale Women were 1-0 winners over Athletico Middleton Ladies on Sunday.
Shannon Gill, who on Saturday was named Player of the Season, scored the only goal of the game as Dale moved to within a point of fifth.
Lee Atkinson’s side went into the game with a squad of 16 for the first time in several weeks and started on the front foot.
Dale created a number of good chances in the first half but weren’t their usual clinical selves in front of goal.
Goalkeeper Leah Jackson made some important stops at the other end when called upon, but Dale limited Middleton to few chances.
The second period followed much of the same pattern, and when Emma Flynn’s brilliant through ball found Gill, she made no mistake to score the only goal of the game.
Michell Lee picked up the Player of the Match award after a superb display.
Atkinson commented: “I’m really happy with today’s performance. Our out-of-possession work was fantastic, and it was probably our best display in possession.
“I think the game should have been out of sight, but we remained focused and comfortably won in the end.
“We were outstanding from back-to-front, and our wide players really impressed.”
Dale are back in action on Wednesday, playing at the Crown Oil Arena, against Salford United Women.
