THE OPPOSITION

Saturday's game will be the first in the dugout for Oldham's new manager, Micky Mellon.

The Scot led Tranmere Rovers to back-to-back promotions, in 2018 and 2019, and has signed a three-year deal with Latics.

They are currently 12th in the table and are six unbeaten, a run which was led by Interim Manager Steve Thompson, following the dismissal of David Unsworth in September.

Our near neighbours added a number of former EFL players to their ranks this summer, most notably that of striker James Norwood, who was prolific at Tranmere under Mellon, and has five goals so far this term.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

This will be the first league meeting between the sides outside of the EFL.

There have been 62 matches, with 18 wins for Dale, 23 for Oldham, and 21 draws.

FLASHBACK

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

James Westgate will be the referee for Saturday’s game. It is his first full season at National League level.

Scott Chalkley and Ryan McIlravey are the assistant referees, with Luis Griffiths as the fourth official.
