Rochdale v Blackburn Rovers: Preview

18 July 2016

Rochdale v Blackburn Rovers: Tuesday 19th July, 7.45pm kick-off.

After a near 12 week wait, football returns to Spotland on Tuesday evening as Dale host Blackburn Rovers in a pre-season friendly.

The fixture is the first of two home friendlies this week, with a game against newly promoted Wigan Athletic to look forward to on Saturday.

The visit of the Championship side has become a regular occurrence during Rochdale’s pre-season schedule, with this year’s fixture seeing Rovers make the trip to Spotland for the fourth time in five seasons.

The previous results are:
2012-13 Rochdale 1-0 Blackburn Rovers (Joe Thompson)
2013-14 Rochdale 2-2 Blackburn Rovers (Scott Hogan and Peter Vincenti)
2015-16 Rochdale 2-1 Blackburn Rovers (Ian Henderson brace)

Blackburn appointed Owen Coyle as Manager this summer and the former Houston Dynamo boss has recruited five key players since his arrival, bringing in Jack Byrne and Stephen Hendrie on loan from Manchester City and West Ham United respectively, in addition to the permanent signings of Liam Feeney, Danny Graham and Anthony Stokes.

In recent days, Rovers, who finished 15th in the Championship last season, have rejected two bids for skipper Grant Hanley from Newcastle United.

Fans can pay on the night at Spotland. Admission prices are as follows:

Adults - £10 (includes young persons aged 17 and over & seniors)
Juniors - £5 (16 and under)

Please note that the Sandy Lane will be closed for the match.

There’s a combined matchday programme for the Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic games. The 16-page edition of TVOS is priced at £2. You'll find more details here > http://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/tvos-the-vouce-of-spotland-rochdale-afc-matchday-programme-3191495.aspx
