Alex Ollier's big week has arrived...
Do you remember Alex Ollier? He’s the fan who travelled over 10,000 miles to watch Rochdale in action only for Dale’s League 1 fixture v Fleetwood Town to be called off.
Last month, Football League sponsor Sky Bet stunned Alex, and the club, with the amazing gesture of offering to pay for his flights back to the UK to watch a game at Spotland.
21-year-old Alex, from the Sunshine Coast, Australia, jumped at the offer, and his big week has finally arrived!
His flight leaves Australia on Wednesday, with Alex arriving in Manchester on Thursday afternoon, giving him a day or so to recover from his jet lag before heading to Spotland for Saturday’s game against Blackpool.
He’ll be given the VIP treatment by the club and a fully-signed Dale shirt donated by Sky Bet as a souvenir of the game.
Alex has family living in Rochdale and has supported the team, from afar, throughout his life. This weekend's game will be only the second time Alex has watched Dale in person, with the first nearly a decade ago.
Rochdale Football Club would like to wish Alex a safe journey. We look forward to seeing him on Saturday!
