Last week, we made a fan’s trip from Australia that little bit more memorable, after giving him the guided tour of Spotland.
Alex Ollier had intended on taking in a game during his time in Rochdale, but his plans were scuppered after Dale’s League One fixture v Fleetwood Town was postponed.
He popped into the Club Shop in the few days after the scheduled match, and after telling us his story, we offered him the chance to take a guided tour around the ground, which he jumped at.
We received this email from Alex this morning [Wednesday], showing how a small gesture like this made his day.
“I just wanted to say thank you to all the staff at the club for showing myself around Spotland 1 week ago.
“I recently came over from Australia and I am an avid Dale supporter. I was disappointed the game against Fleetwood was cancelled due to the pitch so I popped into the club shop to get a new Jersey.
“I met Stuart [the club's retail manager] and he happily showed me around the ground – I even got to meet some players!
"I was blown away by the hospitality the club showed towards myself. It pays off to support a club like Rochdale!"
