Dale To Welcome March Of The Day

22 March 2024

We’re proud to be welcoming March of the Day to the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday, which is raising funds for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

Former Dale player Stephen Darby, who made 40 appearances for us in the 2011/12 season, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2018, setting up the Foundation shortly afterwards, with close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer.

March of the Day, organised by Redwood Events, will see a team of walkers take on a continuous 175-mile trek from the University of Bradford Stadium to Anfield, home of two of Darby’s former clubs.

The walk is also dedicated to former Huddersfield Town striker Marcus Stewart, who was diagnosed with MND in 2022.

The team of walkers set off from Bradford City’s stadium at 9am on Friday, on a route which will see them stop off at 17 football stadia across West Yorkshire and the North West, before finishing at Anfield on Sunday.

They aim to arrive at the Crown Oil Arena at approximately 5.30pm on Saturday, just after full-time of our match against Maidenhead United. We will welcome them pitch side and in the Dale Bar for refreshments before they continue their journey on to Burnley’s Turf Moor.

Please show your support, if you can, by donating to the fundraising effort HERE.
