McNulty Impressed With Gordon Debut

8 January 2024

Kyron Gordon made a great start to his Dale career, believes Jimmy McNulty.

The defender, who signed a deal until the end of the season last week, made his debut in Saturday’s 2-0 win at home to Kidderminster Harriers.

Speaking after the game, the Head Coach reiterated how happy he is to have the Sheffield United Academy graduate in his squad.

“Kyron Gordon made his debut and I thought he was beautiful at times,” said McNulty.

“He’s a lovely footballer and we’re so happy to have him.

“It’s really nice when you watch a player for so long and you envision them doing that in a Rochdale kit and not another kit.

“When he actually goes out on the pitch and does it in front of our own fans, it’s a nice moment.

“He did really well – it’s a great start for him.”

Gordon, who spent the first half of the season with AFC Fylde, played 70 minutes at right-back on Saturday.

Taking to X after the match, the 21-year-old said he “enjoyed that one”, with a number of Dale fans replying with praise of our newest recruit.

Kyron will be in-line for his second Dale appearance later this month, when we welcome Wealdstone to the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday 20th January. Click the image below to buy tickets.
