Fylde Findings

9 January 2024

It was great to welcome so many new and returning faces to the Crown Oil Arena for our Boxing Day fixture.

With a home crowd of 4,325, our home attendance for the game against AFC Fylde was up 77% on our season average before that point.

In our ten most recent Boxing Day home fixtures prior to this campaign, the total attendance, on average, grew 16% on top of our average crowd for that particular season.

For the game against the Coasters, the total attendance grew 46% on this season’s average.

With the increased attendance, the total kiosk takings were up 41% on the season average and the spend in our bars was up 43%.

As part of our follow up to the game, we have sent surveys to fans who attended, whether they purchased a ticket or received one complimentary through Rochdale Council, Action Together or Dale Supporters Trust.

77% of those supporters who attended rated their experience of the day at four or above out of five, with an average rating of 4.32 out of five when asked how likely it is that they will be returning to a match this season.

A survey was also sent out to those supporters who purchased a ticket but did not attend the match, as we continue to gather feedback on the initiative and the day itself.

There is further follow up activity planned, with students from UCFB supporting us, such as utilising the data garnered from the event and the follow up survey feedback, to help to attract people back to a future game at the Crown Oil Arena, starting with the upcoming game against Wealdstone.
