Ahead of Dale’s visit to Aldershot Town this weekend, we’ve dipped into the archives to find some classic footage.
It is almost 15 years to the day since a Joe Thompson inspired Dale ran out 4-2 winners at the Recreation Ground in League Two.
‘Joey T’ bagged a first-half hat-trick, with three goals in 17 minutes, as Dale romped to a 4-0 lead at half-time.
The fourth came courtesy of a stunning strike from Ciaran Toner.
The hosts did pull two back after the break, through Marvin Morgan and Scott Davies, as Dale also ended with ten men following the sending off of Nathan Stanton.
