Dale were beaten 1-0 at home to FC Halifax Town on Saturday.
Rob Harker’s goal midway through the first-half proved to be the difference, ending Dale’s run of three unbeaten.
Adam Clayton returned from suspension in place of Kwaku Oduroh, with Jimmy McNulty’s only change from the win at York City.
Ian Henderson was making his 400th appearance for the Club, becoming only the second man to do so.
Louie Moulden was forced into a five save nine minutes in, clawing Andrew Oluwabori’s effort from 25-yards on to the crossbar.
22 minutes in and the visitors did break the deadlock. Angelo Cappello won possession high up the pitch and squared for Harker, who had the simple task of slotting home from close range.
Tyrese Sinclair, with four goals in his last two games, cut inside and fired an effort from 20-yards over the bar, before Kairo Mitchell forced Sam Johnson into a good stop with a left-footed effort after being found by a through ball.
Moulden then had to make a good stop at the other end to deny Harker, before Jack Evans sent a follow up wide.
Sinclair fired an effort on target from 20-yards, whilst Harker headed wide for the visitors, as the first-half came to a close.
Dale came out quick after the break, with Mitchell forcing Johnson into a save and Sinclair firing wide of the near post.
The Halifax stopper produced a fine save to deny Henderson’s header from Ryan East’s cross, with Ethan Ebanks-Landell heading over the resulting corner.
Mitchell had a shot well blocked, and Sinclair hit a sweet effort inches wide after a well-worked Dale corner routine.
The visitors saw a deflected cross hit the face of the crossbar and Moulden held Millenic Alli’s shot from distance, as they looked to kill the game off.
Dale pushed but couldn’t quite a find a route to goal, with Ebanks-Landell heading over a late corner.
