Community In Focus

12 September 2023

This weekend’s fixture between Rochdale AFC and Barnet in the Vanarama National League marks the launch of Rochdale AFC Community Trust’s ‘Month in Focus’, with various activities planned to showcase the award-winning work of ‘Dale’s official charity.

Community Trust staff will set up stalls in the Dale Bar, Our Spot Community Hub as well as in the Club Shop/Community Bus with information on all of the 25+ programmes currently on offer.

There will also be competitions on offer with matchday hospitality as the prize!

Pre-game, players from across our teams will take to the field with the giant Rochdale AFC flag, sporting their new kit which mirrors those worn by the first team.

The players from Rochdale AFC Women's team, Military Veterans, Ladies, Ability Counts, Walking Football and Sports College will then appear again at half-time, parading the field and taking team and promotional photos.

Also entertaining the crowd at half-time will be Rochdale AFC Dragons, our team for players who are new to the game.

They will be doing a friendly match, led by coaches from Rochdale AFC Military Veterans.

The fixture will also be used to launch the 2022/23 Impact Report, which will showcase the work of the charity over the last season.

It was a fantastic year for the charity, with turnover up 18% to £555,587 – a record year for the charity.

There was also many awards and accreditations, with a win at the North West Football Awards and National Football Business Awards as well as commendations at the Rochdale Diversity Awards and Rochdale in Bloom and the Quality in Action, Code of Practice and Family Excellence kitemarks.

The Impact Report will be brought to life over the coming month, as video case studies, press releases and testimonies from partners and participants to highlight the day-to-day way in which Rochdale AFC Community Trust lives up to its mission statement of making Rochdale a better place to live, work and play.

The month will culminate with Team Rochdale taking on the Rochdale 10k, raising funds for all of the work undertaken by the charity.

Participants, staff, trustees and directors will hopefully be joined by Dale fans to provide an army of fun runners of all abilities to showcase Rochdale AFC as a true community club.
