Jimmy McNulty issued an update on Kairo Mitchell, who missed Saturday’s victory at Dagenham & Redbridge.
The striker notched his tenth goal of the season during the win at home to Altrincham on Tuesday, but will now need a scan this week to determine the extent of the injury that kept him out of the 2-1 win at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
“Kairo got injured in training yesterday [Friday] and it’s such a shame because he’s in a great moment,” said the Head Coach.
“It was a blow for the squad and a blow that I was worried about, in terms of morale.
“Off the back of two wins and some positive momentum, Kairo gets an obscure injury in training, that we’re hoping is not too long but we won’t know until it gets scanned on Monday.
“I really thought it would lift Dagenham seeing that he wasn’t in the team today, because he’s in a great spot.
“He was devastated not to play and he told me that he wanted to, but I made the decision to take him out because sometimes I need to protect them when they can’t protect themselves.
“Hendo [Ian Henderson] came in and he was perfect for us, but the team together, as a 16, they were perfect for us and I’m really pleased for them.”
