New Disabled Changing Pod Installed

23 November 2023

A new state of the art disabled changing pod has been installed at the Crown Oil Arena.

Over recent years, the club has been working with Rochdale Council regarding the Changing Places Toilet scheme, via the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities.

We were delighted to be confirmed as one of eight venues across the Borough to receive a pod, which is now in place at the stadium.

The Changing Places Toilet provides sanitary accommodation for people with multiple and complex disabilities, who cannot use a standard accessible toilet. With additional space and equipment, such as a hoist, adult-sized changing benches and space for carers, the facility is designed for people who need assistance to be changed.

Nicola Toolan, Head of Safeguarding and Dale’s Disability Liaison Officer, commented:

“As a Football Club, we’re proud to have been chosen as a Changing Places Toilet venue.

“Our Stadium Manager Kevin Lowe and I have worked alongside the Council to ensure the club met all the relevant requirements to receive this pod, which will enhance the matchday experience for our disabled supporters.

“It will also provide a suitable facility and make a huge difference for those with disabilities who visit the stadium during the week.”

The pod will be open for use between 8am-4pm on weekdays, and 10am-5pm on home Saturday matchdays.

If you would like more information on the pod, please email Nicola.toolan@rochdaleafc.co.uk.
