Max Taylor says Dale must have faith in themselves, ahead of Saturday’s trip to Crawley Town.
The defender says everyone knows the importance of the game, with Dale seven points behind The Red Devils, but that they cannot hide from it.
“It’s a very big game, of course,” said Taylor.
“Everyone knows the importance of it, there’s no point in hiding from it. We’ve got to have faith in ourselves and concentrate on us.
“We’ve got to know our gameplan, know what we’ve got to carry out, and hopefully we can come home with the three points.
“We can say we’ve been unfortunate, but at the end of the day, the table is the table, the points are the points, the results are the results. We can’t argue against what’s happened.
“There have been stranger things that have happened than us being able to stay up. We do thoroughly believe as a group that it is possible.”
The 23-year-old says boss Jim Bentley has spoken to the group about his own experiences of surviving relegation battles, something that Taylor believes has helped the group.
“He’s spoken about his experiences and it’s good to know that it’s not an impossible task. It is a doable job.
“But we can’t wait until it’s almost impossible. We have to go out there and do it now because there’s no time like the present.”
