Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of forward Kairo Mitchell, in principle.
The 25-year-old joins from Notts County on a two-year deal.
He is currently away on international duty with Grenada, as they attempt to qualify for this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The deal is subject to the completion of a medical upon Mitchell’s return to the UK, following his international duty.
Mitchell, speaking from the Grenada camp, commented: “I’m extremely happy to have joined such a big club.
“I can’t wait to get back and hit the ground running with Rochdale. I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
Dale Head Coach Jimmy McNulty is thrilled with the business.
“I’m absolutely delighted to secure the signature of Kairo,” he said.
“He was our number one target in that area of the pitch, but we had plenty of competition for his signature.
“He is another player that I believe has Football League potential and has already gained good calibre National League experience. I’m really happy with his addition.”
Mitchell is a product of Leicester City’s academy, signing professional terms with the Foxes in 2016.
He would go on to have spells at Nuneaton Town and Coalville Town, where an impressive goalscoring return secured a move to Dartford and then King’s Lynn Town in the National League.
Chesterfield paid an undisclosed fee for the striker in April 2021, before Notts County did the same that summer.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at fellow National League side Eastleigh, finishing the season strongly with four goals in six games.
Mitchell has 15 caps for his country Grenada and will hope to be involved as they take on Guyana on Saturday, in CONCACAF Gold Cup qualification.
