Jimmy Keohane Signs New Deal

23 June 2023

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce that Jimmy Keohane has signed a new contract with the club.

He has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal.

The 32-year-old has made 169 appearances for Dale since joining in 2019 and is excited to be back for another season.

“I’ve been here a few years and although we haven’t had the best times in recent years, I’ve enjoyed it as a whole,” he commented.

“I’m excited to work under Jim [McNulty] and the staff to see what they can do for all of us and to see how we can progress as a team.

“I get on really well with Jim. I like the way he sees the game and the way he wants to play. Hopefully I can fit into that and I’m looking forward to this coming year.

“I really enjoy it here. The number one target is to get back up into the Football League, which will obviously be tough, but hopefully we can build towards something good this year.”

Head Coach Jimmy McNulty commented: “I’m so delighted that Jimmy has chosen to stay at the club.

“He’s been a very useful player for myself and other managers, operating in a number of positions and always giving 100%.

“He’s become one of the senior members of the club having played so many games for us over the last four-and-a-half season, so his experience will be invaluable for the rest of the group this season.”

Keohane joined Dale in February 2019, following a spell in his native Republic of Ireland with Cork City.

He has become known for his ability to play in a variety of positions across the pitch and enjoyed a memorable individual season in 2020/21, winning the Supporters’ Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Goal of the Season.

The former Exeter City man has netted 15 times for Dale, including one in each of our final two games of last season.

Great to have you on board again, Jimmy K!
