Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Cody Johnson from Stockport County.
The 18-year-old midfielder joins on a season-long loan deal from the Sky Bet League Two side.
Johnson becomes Jimmy McNulty’s third summer signing and can’t wait to get started.
“It’s a proud moment for me and I’m glad to get it over the line,” he commented.
“I’ve spoken to [Jimmy McNulty] about his plans for the club and it was quite convincing.
“I can’t wait to get back into it now, meet everyone and start training out on the pitch.”
The Dale Head Coach is delighted to bring him in to the squad.
“Cody is a really good young player,” said McNulty.
“He’s an exciting prospect that I know Stockport think a lot of. After watching him, we think he will be a brilliant addition to our squad, and to challenge competitively for places in our team this season.”
Johnson is a product of Stockport’s academy, having risen through the ranks before signing his first professional contract in April of last year.
He made his County debut in February 2022, following time on loan at Stockport Town earlier that season.
After three appearances in cup competitions for the Edgeley Park side early last season, he joined National League North club Banbury United on loan for the remainder of the campaign, making 19 appearances.
