Tuesday Can Be A Catalyst - Lloyd

13 January 2023

Danny Lloyd hopes Dale can use Tuesday night’s win at Bradford City as a catalyst, ahead of this weekend’s game.

We welcome Colchester United to the Crown Oil Arena in Sky Bet League Two, knowing a win could take us level on points with the U’s.

Lloyd, who signed a deal until the end of the season earlier this week, says the win in midweek will give Dale belief.

“The lads were buzzing after the game,” said the 31-year-old.

“It’s provided a lot of us with the belief that we are a good side, and we can put good performances out on the pitch.

“There have been a lot of games this season, whilst I’ve been here and before, that we’ve been on the wrong side of the result by just one goal. There haven’t been many games where there’s a three or four goal deficit.

“There’s a fine dividing line and we have found ways to fall below that, but on Tuesday night we found a way to be on the right side.

“The last three performances have been massively positive, and hopefully Tuesday can be the catalyst for us to go into Colchester at home.

“It will be a tough game because they’ve invested in their squad, so we’ll have to be wary of that, but Tuesday will give us the confidence that we can be a test for anyone in this division.”

The forward joined Dale on an initial one-month deal in December, extending his stay earlier this week until the end of the season.

“I’m very happy to get something done. It provides me with a bit of stability to focus on my performances and will allow me to kick on now, after what was a very tough year for me and my family.

“I need to look forward now. I’m happy to be here, playing minutes, doing the business on the pitch and that’s what I’m looking to continue to do.

“It’s been great [so far]. The gaffer and all the lads have welcome me really well.

“Tuesday night can hopefully be a catalyst for us. We showed both sides of what we can do as a group. We ground out a result at a really tough place to go, but also scored a really good goal full of quality. It was a great result and something we can use to build on now.”
