Max Taylor says Dale have to believe they can beat anyone, ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to the Sky Bet League Two leaders.
We travel to Leyton Orient, who currently sit eight points clear of second placed Stevenage.
Speaking after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Northampton Town, Taylor commented:
“We can’t go out there playing with fear.
“Where we’re at in the table, we’ve got nothing to lose. We’ve got confidence in ourselves having beaten Bradford [last month], but we’ve got to take one game at a time and give 100% in every game.
“We shouldn’t fear anyone in the league – I think anyone is beatable. It’s just down to us as lads to take that belief and spur each other on. It’s a very difficult situation and we’ve got to keep pushing.
“There’s no point not having the belief we can survive. There’d be no point in turning up if we didn’t. We’ve all got to believe, every day, that we can get out of the situation we’re in. Until it’s mathematically impossible, or we get out of it, we’ve got to believe and give 100% every day.”
The defender made his first league appearance of the season at Bradford last month and has been an ever-present since.
He praised the addition of Dale’s January signings, who he says have lifted the group.
“They’ve brought a new, fresh energy into the dressing room.
“The first half of the season didn’t go the way we wanted, so to have a group of lads come in, bring positivity to the group, is what we needed.”
