The Youth Team ended 2023 with back-to-back EFL Youth Alliance Cup matches.
Despite a win and a draw from those two matches, Dale exited the competition, finishing fourth in Northern Group 2.
Dale were 2-1 winners at home to Burton Albion on Saturday, thanks to goals from Brooklyn Bailey and Leo Cooper.
They then drew their final group game 1-1 at Hartlepool United, after Isaac Burgess' goal was cancelled out by a Pools penalty.
A win, two draws and a loss from their four group games means the Youth Team finished two points behind eventual runners-up Hartlepool, who will qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
That was Dale's final match of the calendar year. They will be back in league action at Bolton Wanderers in the New Year.
