Excited To Be Back - Sinclair

11 December 2023

Tyrese Sinclair says he is looking forward to a return to regular football following his injury.

The winger missed six weeks of action after suffering an ankle injury against Oldham Athletic in October.

He made his comeback in last weekend’s game at Bromley and hopes to get back to scoring goals.

“I’m happy to be back. I’ve missed it,” said Sinclair.

“It felt like a long six weeks. I’ve not really been injured seriously like that before. It took a couple of days [to come to terms with it] but I just got fully focused on getting back as quickly as possible. Thankfully I came back a week ahead of schedule.

“There was a lot of gym work, on bikes and rowers, things like that. When you’re in a big boot, it’s hard mentally. Being away from the boys. But I think it makes you mentally stronger for when you are back.

“I want to get back scoring goals, playing well. I’ve got high standards, so I expect that of myself.

“I was going well. That happened and put a stint in my momentum for the season, but I’ve got to get back now and get going again.”

Dale welcome Gateshead to the Crown Oil Arena on Tuesday, following postponement of Saturday’s Isuzu FA Trophy tie.

Sinclair says a cup competition brings excitement. He commented:

“It definitely adds excitement. It’s the biggest cup competition in non-league.

“Gateshead are going to be a strong team, but we’ll be fully focused on trying to get through to the next round.”
