McNulty's Bromley Reaction

2 December 2023

Jimmy McNulty felt Dale deserved at least a point at Bromley on Saturday.

His side had control for large parts and were denied a few times before Olufela Olomola’s goal ten minutes from time proved to be the difference.

“I thought the minimum we were good for was a point,” said McNulty.

“I think, overall, it was a good performance, and Bromley were clinical. They had two moments in the game, and they took one of them.

“We dominated a lot of the game and at half-time, I believed if we kept doing what we were doing, we would create chances.

“We did that with Devante [Rodney] and Jes [Jesurun Uchegbulam], Hendo [Ian Henderson] across the line, so we had our moments, we just didn’t score. If we play that game again with those exact chances, I think we win the game with a cushion.

“It's football. I said to the team, I don’t want them to be too down. If I look at it from purely a performance perspective, it was good.

“We were much better than Bromley, in my opinion, on the day. They hung in there and I thought the goal was coming.

“A few of our players will be disappointed that they didn’t get a goal, they’ll feel like they should have. I also felt there was a penalty on Tyrese late on. I thought it was harsh.”

It was Sinclair’s first minutes since picking up an ankle injury back in October.

The Head Coach was pleased to see him back but also confirmed that Kairo Mitchell will be missing for up to two months with an ankle problem.

“We’re happy to have him [Sinclair] back with us. It’s been a lengthy lay off but it’s definitely a boost to have him back, especially when we lose Kairo.

“His situation is worse than we thought, after having the scan. It’s testament to his bravery because he was trying to push himself for the last game.

“He’s got some serious ankle ligament damage and we’re probably going to lose him for eight weeks. It’s a loss because he was in great form.

“It was difficult to lose him, and Cian Hayes, and it was probably a boost for the opposition not to see those guys on the team sheet.”
