Scott Quigley Joins On Loan

1 September 2022

Rochdale Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Scott Quigley from Stockport County.

The forward joins Dale on loan until the end of the season.

Quigley began his career at Welsh side The New Saints, where he was a regular as they won five consecutive Welsh Premier League titles between 2012-2017.

He also appeared in numerous Champions League qualifying campaigns for TNS, before securing a move to Blackpool in the summer of 2017.

Loan spells at Wrexham, Port Vale and FC Halifax Town followed, before a permanent move to Barrow in 2019.

The now 29-year-old scored 20 goals in his first season with the Bluebirds, where his goals helped them secure promotion into the Football League.

15 goals followed the season after in League Two before he joined Stockport County last summer, again winning promotion back to the Football League.

On joining Dale, Quigley said: “I’m very excited. The move has come about quite quickly.

“The gaffer has only just arrived himself, but he’s a real positive bloke. I know a lot of people who know him and Chaddy [Nick Chadwick], and it was easy in the end to join them.

“I don’t think this team has really started yet, so once everything clicks, I think we’ll be talking about the other end of the table.

“I’m a big strong lad. I’m deceivingly quicker than people probably think I am. Anything into me, I can get hold of it and lay it off, get into the box and hopefully score some goals.”

Manager Jim Bentley commented: “Scott is a player I’ve always admired and have come close to signing previously.

“He’s had a couple of successful seasons and during his last full season at this level he had a very good goals return.

“He’s big and strong, experienced, mobile and has a good work ethic. I’m sure he will give us something different in the attacking areas.

“I’m really pleased he’s on board and I’m sure he will be a player the fans will get behind and enjoy watching.”

Quigley will wear squad number 18 during his time at the Crown Oil Arena.

Welcome to the club, Scott!
