James Ball says he and the squad fully believe they can start to climb to Sky Bet League Two table.
Dale travel to Northampton Town this weekend in search of a first league win of the season, something the midfielder believes will come sooner rather than later.
“Hopefully, we can get that first win which will kick start our season,” said Ball.
“The gaffer and Nick have come in and we’ve scored six goals in three games now. You can see that the progress is there and we’re really fighting for the results.
“We showed that fight on Tuesday and we could have come away with a point. Throughout the squad, the fight is there and the hunger to get that win, to climb the table, is definitely there.
“The Carlisle game we should have won, we all know that. Being 3-1 up and conceding two goals in the manner that we did, we were all disappointed with that. On Tuesday, we showed a lot of fight. We could have taken a point, and everyone would have said it’s a really good point.
“It’s fine margins and everyone fully believes we can get out this situation that we’re in. We’re doing everything we can.
“What’s difficult is, being in this rut that we’re in, the hardest thing is getting out of it. Once you do get out of it, we all believe that once we get that first win, we can go on a run and climb the table.
“With the quality and the attitude that the lads have got in training every day, even in the games, I don’t think recently we can be faulted for lack of effort or willingness to win.
“When things aren’t going your way you seem to get kicked when you’re down. It’s just about turning that around and I think we can do that.”
