Go There With A Positive Mindset - Jim Bentley

24 October 2022

Jim Bentley says Dale must not panic after defeat at home to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

His side head to Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday, and Bentley wants the players to move on quickly from the loss to The Dons.

“We’ve proven we can do better than today [Saturday],” said the gaffer.

“We can’t panic though. We’ve just come off the back of four wins in six games in all competitions.

“We’ve drawn with a strong Salford side on Tuesday, beaten Barrow last week, but lost today.

“We’ve got to pick the bones out of it and move on quickly and be positive on Monday ready for Tuesday’s game at Tranmere Rovers.

“Tranmere are doing really well. Fair play to Micky [Mellon] and his team. I watched them on Friday and they were excellent. They’ve got key players, good players, they’re in good form.

“We’re away from home but we’ve won our last two away, so we’ve got to go there with that positive mindset.”

Dale will be without Scott Quigley, who Bentley confirmed will be out for a few weeks following an injury sustained in the Papa John’s Trophy draw with Salford City.

“Scott has pulled his groin. It’s not a long-term injury but he’s going to be a few weeks out.

“We’ve got quite a few games coming up and he’s an important player so it’s important we don’t rush him back. We don’t want him or anyone to break down. We’re quite light and we’ve got a few issues.

“We’ll have a head count because there is quite a few down. Sam Graham came off today [Saturday] and there’s one or two others on the treatment table.”
