We Believe In Ourselves - Bentley

4 November 2022

Jim Bentley says his side must believe in themselves if they are to take anything from Saturday’s game against Bristol Rovers.

Dale travel to the League One side who have lost just once in nine games in all competitions.

Bentley says it will be tough but insists his side will do all they can to get in the hat for the next round.

“It’s a tough draw for us but as I’ve said, there’s always upsets in any round, up and down the country, and if we beat Bristol Rovers, it will be an upset.

“It’s a game where the pressure is on the home side. They’re a league above, at home, in better form. They’re a good side. But we believe in ourselves.

“We go there with that belief that we can win the game. We’re looking forward to it and we’ve got to give a good account of ourselves.

“It’s pointless travelling down, doing the preparation, doing the analysis, unless you believe that you can win. Sometimes things are stacked in your favour, sometimes they’re stacked against you.

“We’re the underdog, we’re relishing the challenge, and as I say, we’ll do all we can to get in the hat for the next round.

“There’s no better domestic competition than the FA Cup for me. It’s fantastic. There are stories every year with regards to individual players, underdog teams doing well and getting to the latter stages.

“When you get to the end of it, FA Cup final day is always a great day. As far as I’m concerned, it’s brilliant to be involved in.”

Bentley also gave an injury update on Scott Quigley and Aidy White. Watch his full interview below.
