Ethan Brierley Signs Extended Deal

7 July 2022

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce that Ethan Brierley has signed a new contract with the club.

He has extended his stay by a year, with his new deal running through until the summer of 2024.

"It's a great feeling and I'm delighted to sign a new contract," said the 18-year-old.

"It's good for the club and the manager to offer me a new deal because it shows I've done well in training and in the matches I've played. I think I've started off pre-season okay, so hopefully I can kick on and do well this season.

"I'm looking forward to Saturday now [Dale's friendly at Chester] and playing back in front of the fans for the first time in a while."

Brierley has been with the Dale Academy since the age of seven and made his first team debut in a Carabao Cup tie against Huddersfield Town in September 2020.

He signed a three-year professional contract upon turning 17 in November of that year, making nine appearances during the 2020/21 campaign.

Last season, the midfielder spent time on loan at National League North side Spennymoor Town, making seven appearances and scoring one goal.

He returned to Dale to play the last two games of the League Two season, notching an assist in the final day win at Newport County.

Congratulations, Ethan!
