The Youth Team were defeated 3-0 at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday morning.
Dale started the better of the two teams as Max Sutton delivered our first chance of the game with Peter Thomas narrowly heading over the bar.
Unfortunately, the side had to alter their plans straight after this, as Thomas went off with an injury within the first 10 minutes of the game.
Bolton took the lead after 13 minutes with their striker scoring from the edge of the box with an excellent shot that went straight into the top corner.
The Trotters built on their lead with a goal three minutes later, as their left-back went on a surging run which eventually led to him pulling the ball back on the byline for their striker to tap home from two yards out.
Wanderers used their momentum to force a good save from Brad Kelly, after a free kick was sent towards the top left hand corner. Kelly was involved with the Youth Team due to Mossley AFC, where he is out on loan to, having no fixture.
There was then a sucker punch for Rochdale right before half time as Bolton scored a free-kick from 20-yards out to extend their lead further.
At the start of the second half, Jesper Laurence, from a free-kick, saw a looping crash off the crossbar.
Dale were presented with another opportunity from a set-piece as Ayub fired wide from 10-yards out.
Soon after, the Whites showed their attacking intent as they played a swift ball through for their striker to go one on one with Kelly but it was the goalkeeper who came out on top with an impressive save.
Despite a late effort from Ethan Brierley, which forced Bolton’s goalkeeper into a good save, it ended in a loss for Rochdale.
