Richard O’Donnell says the squad is confident Dale can end the festive period in a better position than we are now.
The goalkeeper admits there is a disappointment with the current league position, but knows a positive result on Boxing Day would be the perfect start to a busy Christmas period.
“We’re obviously disappointed with where we are in the league,” said O’Donnell.
“We’ve shown at times this season that we’re more than capable of doing a lot better than we are. As it stands, we’re disappointed with where we are.
“But within the group, and the staff, we’re confident we can pull ourselves away from that. This game would be the perfect time to start that.
“We had a good run from the win at Colchester onwards, but more recently it’s not gone the way that we planned. Boxing Day would be a great time to start another run with all of the games coming up.
“From our point of view, we’re more than confident that we can come out of this period in a lot better position than we are now.
“It was disappointing to get two games called off in a row, but on the flip side, it’s given us a chance to work on things that we needed to. It’s allowed us to prepare for this big game coming up on Boxing Day.
“It’s a big game. They’re just below us in the table so it’s an important game for both teams. We’ll do our prep leading up to it and give it as best a go as we possibly can.
“We’re at home and it should be a decent crowd with it being Boxing Day. It’s our job to send them home happy. We’re looking forward to it having had the break we’ve had.”
