Danny Lloyd Signs For Dale

9 December 2022

Rochdale AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Danny Lloyd on a short-term deal.

The attacking midfielder has penned an initial one-month contract with the club.

Lloyd has been a free agent since leaving Gillingham in the summer and is ready and raring to go for Dale.

“I’m thankful to the club and the gaffer for bringing me in, and ultimately giving me the opportunity to play some games,” said the 31-year-old.

“I’ve been out injured for a while but been working really hard to make sure that I get back in the best possible shape.

“Hopefully, I can come in and get some minutes on the pitch. I need to train well, do the business, and who knows what can happen next.

“I’ve known the gaffer for a number of years and it’s nice to finally get an opportunity to work with him.

“There’s a decent group here and I’m looking to slot in, being another cog in the wheel and get things moving in the right direction.”

Jim Bentley commented: “Danny is a good player, a good professional and a good person, who is determined to get back playing and doing well again.

“He’s had a difficult time with his injury but worked extremely hard to get back to full fitness.

“He’s trained with us and looks in good shape. He’s sharp and I’m sure he can offer us something at the top end of the pitch.

“We have given him a chance to prove himself and I’m sure he will give us a lift with his character and attitude.

“It's a win for both parties and I’m hoping he can go from strength to strength during this month and we wish him well.”

Lloyd began his career in non-league with Southport, which was followed by spells at Colwyn Bay, Lincoln City, Tamworth and AFC Fylde.

After a 29-goal season with Stockport County in the National League North, he signed for League One Peterborough United in 2017.

Spells at Salford City, a loan return to Stockport, Tranmere Rovers and Gillingham followed, before joining up with Dale.

He will wear shirt number 25.

Welcome to the Crown Oil Arena, Danny!
