Youth Team Report | Dale 4-0 Blackpool

12 March 2021

The Youth Team responded to defeat on Saturday with an emphatic performance against Blackpool at Bower Fold on Tuesday afternoon, winning 4-0.

Goals from Louie Chorlton, Paul Kyffin and Peter Thomas (2) saw Dale record all three points and get back to winning ways.

The visitors nearly opened the scoring when defender Michael Fitzgerald’s header was diverted over the crossbar by Luke Nock from on the goal-line.

Dale took the lead when Jadel Yaduat found Chorlton down the right and after his initial cross was blocked, he fired a shot into the bottom corner on his weaker left foot.

Peter Thomas then capitalised on a defensive error and showed great balance to stay on his feet, before squaring the ball to Kyffin to finish from close range and put Dale two goals ahead.

Jordan Scanlon was introduced in the second half and he nearly got on the scoresheet – Chorlton cut the ball back to him on the edge of the area, but he fired over.

Thomas put the game to bed following a well worked corner routine from which he powered a header home past Alec McLachlan in the Blackpool goal.

Just moments later, Thomas had a brace, this time breaking through on goal before squeezing the ball under the ‘keeper to confirm the victory.

Morgan Kinsella nearly added a fifth for Dale, heading narrowly wide from another training ground corner routine.

There were no further goals and the game ended 4-0, with Dale putting in another brilliant attacking display to bounce back from a disappointing result on Saturday.

Chris Brown’s side are next in action on Saturday when they host Oldham Athletic.
