Rochdale AFC are pleased to announce that Nick Grindrod has agreed to join the Club’s Board as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.
Nick, through his accountancy practice N J Grindrod & Co, has been working as the Club’s external accountant over 12 months, bringing a wealth of experience and vital expertise.
On the appointment, Chief Executive David Bottomley said: “We’re delighted to welcome Nick onto the Board of Directors.
“Our supporters will be well aware that our previous accountancy firm was the one run by Paul Hazlehurst until he sadly passed away. He has left a legacy that will be hard to follow, but I am confident that Nick and his team are more than capable of taking on that task.
“Nick has an excellent relationship with Tony Pockney, who is the main Board Director for all things finance and an invaluable asset to the Club, but we still required an external accountant.
“His expertise has already proven to be exceptionally helpful and that help is required more than ever as we go through these tough financial times, whilst we await the resumption of playing games.
“And importantly, he and his family are long-time Dale Season Ticket holders, so we’re mixing brilliant accountancy service with someone who is a loyal supporter of the Club.”
Nick commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been asked to join the Board of Directors. It’s a huge honour both personally and professionally.
“It has been a privilege to work as the Club’s external accountant and I will continue to give my all as a Non-Executive Director.
“I have been an avid Dale fan since an early age, growing up with the likes of Alan Reeves and Shaun Reid as my idols! I have fond memories of watching them alongside my dad in the Sandy Lane. These days, I, along with my father in law and sons, enjoy the game from the Family Stand.
“I join a fantastic, progressively forward-thinking board and must pay special mention to those working tirelessly behind the scenes, in the midst of all the chaos that surrounds us at this present time, in order to protect and preserve the future of our wonderful Football Club.”
