Dale Ladies Record Back-To-Back Victories

Rochdale AFC Ladies Open Age team secured back-to-back victories with a 7-1 victory over Urmston Meadowside on Saturday.

The hosts got off to strong start, as Abigail Driffield placed a well-struck hit into the bottom left corner to send Dale 1-0 up.

Rochdale were unlucky to lead just 1-0 at the half-time break, after striking the woodwork with multiple efforts.

Urmston had a chance to equalise but were prevented by ‘keeper Abi Nolan, who managed a fantastic acrobatic save.

Dale doubled their lead through a Georgia Cocking header, who leaped high to connect on Emily Hindle’s pinpoint delivery.

The third came from the corner. Erin Kilpatrick slotted the ball away from a corner, after the Urmston goalkeeper failed to deal with the set-piece.

Jess Preston headed home powerfully from another corner to put Dale 4-0 up.

After beating the defensive line, Preston came one-on-one with the Urmston stopper, slotting past her for a 5-0 after 75 minutes.

Hindle grabbed a sumptuous sixth goal for Rochdale, curling the ball high into the top corner after a well-worked piece of play.

They were denied a clean sheet however, as Meadowside grabbed a late consolation after a mix up in the Dale defence reduced lightly reduced the deficit.

But Dale were in the mood and bounced back immediately. Lucy Pilling penetrated through the back line, lobbing the on-rushing goalkeeper and wrapping the game up 7-1.

Rochdale's next game is against West Didsbury and Chorlton Women at home on October 6th.
