Manager Brian Barry-Murphy says he and the players are very appreciative of the fans' support, after seeing that over 300 Season Tickets were bought for the 2019/20 campaign on the first day of sales alone.
“It’s a huge sign of how much they’ve appreciated the players’ efforts in securing the Club’s safety in League One, and they’re probably excited in the look of the division next season,” said Barry-Murphy.
“There are so many big teams that have been relegated from the Championship, and indeed coming up from League Two. It has the look of what could be an extremely exciting division next season.
“The fans enthusiasm and appreciation of the players’ efforts has been noticeable in the last few weeks. To see them come up in their numbers is hugely exiting for everybody.
“The players are very aware of it. It was the topic of conversation in the dressing room, the fact that we could be having larger crowds next season – whether we will or not is hard to know at this early stage.
“The enthusiasm of the supporters to actually purchase Season Tickets is great for everyone at the Club and it shows that there is a real buzz and vibrancy around at the moment.
“There was a great atmosphere at the End of Season Awards and it was a great weekend for everybody at the Club and the supporters.
“The players understand the importance of speaking to the supporters and getting their feedback on what has been a trying, and at times, difficult season.
“It’s great to have a moment of enjoyment for everybody to reflect and appreciate each other’s efforts.
“The players are very appreciative of all the supporters’ efforts during the season and the general feeling and feedback from all the supporters on Saturday was that they have a great appreciation of all the efforts that the players have put in over the course of the season.
“Even when the results were difficult, they see that the players are putting in a huge amount of effort, and that was hugely gratifying to hear.”
