Flashback | Gillingham 1-2 Dale

28 March 2019

Ahead of Dale’s visit to Gillingham on Saturday, we take a look back at a previous encounter between the two sides.

Dale’s last win away at the Priestfield Stadium came in September 2012, when goals from Andrew Tutte and Bobby Grant secured a 2-1 victory over the then table toppers.

Tutte broke the deadlock in the first-half when his cross took a deflection and beat Stuart Nelson at the back post.

The Dale goalscorer was then the victim of a two-footed challenge from Danny Jackman, which saw the Gills man receive a straight red card.

Tutte then turned provider for Dale’s second. He found Grant with superb long pass, who saw his first attempt saved before slamming home the rebound.

The Gills got themselves back into it from the penalty spot, after Phil Edwards brought down Chris Whelpdale in the area.

Danny Kedwell converted, but Dale held on to seal a third straight away win.

Dale XI | Lillis, Pearson, R Edwards, R Bennett, Rafferty, P Edwards, Tutte ©, Kennedy, Donnelly, Adebola (Putterill 77), Grant.
