Over 60 Players Participate In Community Cohesion Cup

19 March 2019

The inaugural Community Cohesion Cup proved to be a huge success this weekend!

The tournament was held, in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council and Link4Life, at the Soccer Factory in Rochdale on Saturday.

Players signed up individually and were allocated teams on the day, bringing together youngsters from various areas and backgrounds in Rochdale.

BASA FC edged out Unbeatables FC in the final of the Open Age tournament, whilst Fusion FC beat Syke Boys FC in the Youth competition final.

Community Cohesion Officer Syed Ali was delighted with the how event went.

“As a first, inaugural launch, I’m really made up with it,” he said.

“It was a great day, a great experience, and one which we can hopefully build on every year.

“Around 70 people took part from various cultures and various areas in Rochdale. Everyone received a Cohesion Cup t-shirt, and the winners received a trophy.

“Thank you to the Soccer Factory, the Council and Link4Life for their support. I would also like to say a big thank you BTEC student Jordan Parker, who helped out with the refereeing on the day.”
