Barry-Murphy Confirms Who'll Be Working Alongside Him

8 March 2019

First Team Coach Brian Barry-Murphy has confirmed which members of staff have been working alongside him, as we head into Saturday's game against Shrewsbury Town.

Current staff members Steve Collis (Goalkeeping Coach), Callum Jones (Performance Analyst), Ross Jones (Head Of Sports Science) and Andy Thorpe (Physiotherapist) remain on the team, with Academy Manager Tony Ellis also joining Barry-Murphy in the dugout on Saturday.

“We’ve been a team over the period of success, so we’ll carry on with what they’ve done and do it in our own way,” he explained.

“We’ve still got the same staff. We’ve still got Steve doing the goalkeeping coaching. We’ve got Callum Jones who’s as good as there is in the business. We are well staffed and if I can point them in the right direction, I’m sure we’ll do well.

“Tony has been an exceptional help to me as I’ve entered into the coaching world, in understanding different things.

“He’s got that unique connection with the younger players because they’ve known him since they've been so young. He has the respect of the other players because of what he’s done in the game.”

He also confirmed that the Academy’s Youth Development Phase Lead Coach Lee Riley has stepped up to join the first-team coaching staff.

“We’ve also got Lee who is going to be with us all the time. He’s brought through the young players like Dan Adshead, Luke Matheson and Aaron Morley.

“He’s got that bond with them and he’s also someone who’s not been with us this season.

“It’s been a really tough season emotionally and we’ve become obsessed with how we’re going to get results. He’s fresher, he’s got new ideas and he’ll be very, very good. We’ll all work together.”
