MJ Williams can’t wait for the season to start!
The 23-year-old has been reflecting on pre-season and looking ahead to the upcoming campaign, as the players go through their final preparations ahead of our season-opener this Saturday.
“I can’t wait to get going,” he said.
“We’ve worked hard this pre-season to get to the point where we’re ready for the start of the season. All the lads are ready to go and I’m most certainly ready to go.
“Everyone dreads the thought of pre-season but this one has been very good. It has got us all into the best shape we’ve ever been in. Everyone is enjoying it and you can tell that from the way the lads have got together. We’ve got a lot of fitness into us and it’s probably the fittest I’ve ever felt off the work we’ve done this summer, so I can’t wait to take that into the season and hopefully have a good season.”
Dale face newly promoted Tranmere Rovers on the opening day of the campaign, with the season now just days away. Liverpool-based Williams knows the side will be in for a tough test at Prenton Park but says all the players are looking forward to the challenge.
“I can’t wait for the game. It’s not too far from me either, it’s only around the corner. We know that it’s going to be a tough game. They’ll probably sell the stadium out and their fans will be lively. They’ve also got a good team, but we’ve just got to go there with our own game plan and hopefully we can take everything we worked on in pre-season into the first game and get the win.”
