Who’s up for walking to Accrington?
On Saturday 16th March, when Keith Hill’s side take on Stanley at the Crown Ground, fans are invited to join the Dale Supporters Trust in walking there from the Crown Oil Arena.
The sponsored walk has been arranged to raise funds for the planned Dale in the Community Trust 5-a-side pitch.
It’s open to all supporters whether you want to help raise funds for the 5-a-side pitch or just fancy a leisurely 16 mile stroll. Chief Executive David Bottomley is amogst those getting involved in the walk.
This will be the third time that Dale fans have held a sponsored walk to Accrington. The first walk to Accy came back in 2010 and the 90 plus walkers were fully rewarded for their efforts on a very rainy afternoon as Dale recorded a famous 4-2 victory that all but secured our first promotion in 40 years. The second walk to Accrington also saw an away victory, when supporters traipsed over the hills to raise funds for a van for the Dale Community Trust.
This year’s walk will take place on Saturday 16th March, leaving the Crown Oil Arena's Dale Bar at 8am following a 7.30am meet. There will be a stop along the way for refreshments, before completing the final stretch of the journey to Accrington.
