Ahead of Good Friday’s game against Shrewsbury Town, we take a look back at a previous meeting between the two sides at the Crown Oil Arena.
On December 19th 2009, Dale were 4-0 winners over the Shrews in League Two, thanks to Craig Dawson and Chris O’Grady braces.
Dawson put Dale ahead eight minutes into the game, smashing the ball home from a corner. O’Grady doubled Rochdale’s advantage before the break when he struck into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the area.
Shortly after the interval, Dawson made it 3-0, again from a corner, but this time he left the goalkeeper with no chance, as he sent a bullet header beyond him. And O’Grady added a fourth on 67 minutes. A Tom Kennedy free-kick, which was parried away, fell kindly to the forward, who finished first time.
