Captain Ian Henderson believes the performance in Saturday’s Emirates FA fourth round tie against Millwall at the Den was Dale’s best performance of the season.
The Lions came from behind at the death to snatch a replay, after it looked like Keith Hill’s side had done more than enough to book their place in the fifth round of the competition for the first time since 2003.
Speaking after the game, Hendo commented: “The attitude was unbelievable.
“We were incredibly resolute, and that’s the message that the Gaffer has always put across to us during the five years I’ve been with him.
“We’ve always been a hard-working team and we get our fortune from working incredibly hard.”
And the Dale skipper hopes the side can use the performance as a “spring board” for the remainder of the season.
“We’re going to use it as a spring board or a catalyst moving forward because we played exceptionally well. I think it’s probably our best performance of the season.
“We implemented the manager’s philosophy down to a tee today – hard work, pass, move and press, and we looked like a cohesive unit. We also scored two really good goals.”
