We’re pleased to announce that the latest recipient of the Brian Johnson Memorial Trophy is Kevin Harley.
The trophy was introduced by the Goldbond department for the first time last year in memory of Brian Johnson, who was Commercial Manager at Rochdale during the 1980s, with the intention of awarding it annually to one of the club’s top performing Goldbond Agents.
Kevin, a Dale fan for 60 years, has been an Agent for the last decade and currently has three Goldbond rounds, collecting from more than 100 members.
Lotteries Manager Peter Woodhouse commented: “The Goldbond has a dedicated group of around 100 Agents who go out in all weathers to collect their members’ weekly subscriptions, and we, as a club, are extremely proud and grateful to all our Agents for the fantastic work they do.
“Kevin has been chosen as the 2017 recipient of this award for his committed service, having taken on an extra round, despite suffering from a long-term ankle injury. He has fought through the pain barrier while waiting for an operation, and his hard-work and commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed. It’s people like Kevin that help keep the Goldbond going and we are very grateful to have such a loyal and dedicated Agent.”
Kevin added: “I’m overwhelmed that Pete and his staff have chosen me as the 2017 winner of the Brian Johnson Memorial Trophy.
“I’ve been watching Dale for 60 years and I feel really proud to have been considered for this award.
“I thoroughly enjoy doing my rounds and it’s well-worth braving the elements to help the club I support.”
Rachel Roberts scooped the award last year for her sterling efforts in 2016.
