Dale The Rochdale Duck

30 January 2018

Did you see the Rochdale supporting duck on The One Show, prior to Monday night’s Emirates FA Cup fifth round draw?

Travelling Dale supporters may also have noticed the peculiar mascot at away matches this season.

“Dale The Rochdale Duck” has been spotted in with the Dale fans at recent FA Cup ties away to Doncaster Rovers and Millwall.

Owner Laurence Flood first brought the duck to Dale’s game against Southend United in September, and the FA Cup second round tie at Slough Town in December.

“I thought we needed a bit of a lift,” said Laurence.

“We’re actually unbeaten whilst the duck has been there, so she’s in safe keeping at the minute!”

Dale fan Laurence, who lives in Chessington, has family from Rochdale and gets to around ten matches a year.

“We haven’t actually settled on a name for the duck yet, so I'm open to suggestions!”

Laurence appeared live on The One Show, as Dale or Millwall were drawn at home to either Newport County or Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round.
