Scott Wiseman Delighted To Be Working Under Keith Hill For A Third Time

2 February 2018

Scott Wiseman has told iFollow that the draw of working under Keith Hill for a third time led to a “no brainer” decision to return to the club.

Wiseman initially joined Rochdale back in 2008, making 114 appearances in three seasons, and was a key member of the Dale squad that earned promotion to League One in 2010. A move to Barnsley followed in the summer of 2011, where he linked up again with Hill.

“Keith Hill is one of the main factors for me coming here. I know the position that we’re in and it’s going to be tough, but the Gaffer spoke to me and he really wanted me to come back, which was a big pull for me,” said the defender.

The 32-year-old hopes his experience can benefit the squad.

“I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t think I had anything to offer the team. I’d like to think that my experience and what I’ve learnt down the years in relegation battles and promotion pushes can come into play.”

A deadline day recruit, the defender says it was a crazy few hours before the window shut.

“I was just pottering around doing work at home and then I got the phone call. Before you know it, I’m just sitting by the phone and the fax machine waiting to see what became of it.

“But it was a no brainer for me. The chance to step back up into League One was massive and to link up with lads I know at a club I’ve been at before was another draw, but like I previously said, the chance to work with Keith Hill again was an even bigger draw.”
