“It’s a game that’s winnable,” said the Gaffer.
“We’ve got to be competitive and we’ve got to be at our very best. We’ve got no fear going into the fixture.
“They are going to be favourites, there’s no question about that, but we’ve had great success in the FA Cup over recent years and we’re looking forward to the experience again.”
He added: “Portsmouth are an excellent side. They are the men’s team of the league with respect to knowledge and knowhow, and they’re putting all of that into action in performances. They’ve got a squad of players that can deal with the pressure of being top of the league and they are an outstanding side. But it’s a fixture in isolation we believe that can win.
“With respect to the last time we played them, earlier in the season, there were certain aspects of the game that I was really pleased with but the way we allowed them to score the second goal is a minor detail but it’s a negative detail that we have to make sure that we’re better on, especially when we’re playing against the best team in League One.”
