Following the completion of the opening round of fixtures in the Checkatrade Trophy, the shortlist for the first ever Player of the Round has been revealed in a new competition which gives fans the chance to vote for their preferred player and present the award to the winner!
This new award has been set up by title sponsors Checkatrade and is open to all players taking part in this season’s Checkatrade Trophy. There will be an award for each round of matches – three in the Round One Group stages - up until the semi-finals.
The opening round of group stage games saw 114 goals scored across the 32 fixtures that took place up and down the country.
The Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round shortlist for the first group stage matches is as follows:
- Rob Hall – Oxford United
- Jacob Hansen – Bradford City
- Callum Hudson-Odoi - Chelsea
- Bradden Inman – Rochdale
- Dominic Telford - Bristol Rovers
The two players with the most votes will then be considered by a judging panel consisting of representatives from the EFL, before the overall winner is revealed on Monday 2 October, so we ask all Dale fans to get voting for Bradden!
Every fan who votes will be entered into a prize draw, with one lucky supporter getting the chance to present the Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round award to the winning player and win tickets to the final of the competition at Wembley in April.
Fans have until 9am on Tuesday 26th September to register their votes for the inaugural award. To vote for the player you feel deserves to be the Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round, please visit EFL.com/playeroftheround.
